Apologetics to the Glory of God

  • An Atheist Explanation of Thanksgiving

I do wonder sometimes what is going on in an atheist’s head.

    Take this article for example:

An Atheist at the Thanksgiving table

First, who is this fellow’s target audience? Was somebody arguing that atheists do not have anything to be thankful for? I have never heard such an argument. And yet the bulk of this article is apparently aimed at showing that, “Atheists have plenty to be thankful for — without the need to include anything supernatural or non-existent on our lists.” Okay. Yeah. Atheists do have plenty to be thankful for. Glad we have established that!

    Second, …

  • Ignorant Mockery

One of our followers on Twitter, “Jesus With Issues,” attempts to mock the Christian faith as follows:

“I am God’s son. But I’m also God. But different. You wouldn’t understand.”

As is usually the case, the scoffer is not much of a thinker.

Do Christians believe that Jesus is God’s Son? Of course. Do Christians believe that Jesus is God? Of course. Is there a problem here? Not at all.

Jesus the Son is the second person of the Trinity, and in that sense is God’s Son. Jesus is also essentially divine, which is to say that in terms of …

  • Evil as an Illusion

To the average Westerner, the religious texts and teachings of the East often read like drug induced nonsense. At the same time, Eastern religions contain some insight in virtue of their very different approach to familiar topics.

Take, for example, the problem of evil. As far as most atheists are concerned, this is the best weapon available against theism, and especially Christian theism. Of course, the problem of evil fails as an objection to the Christian faith due to the unbeliever’s inability to fashion an argument against the premise that ‘God has a morally sufficient reason for the evil He …

  • John MacArthur is a Fool

The title of this video mentions homosexuality, but I would encourage you to focus in on what the commentator at the beginning and end of the series of clips has to say. John MacArthur constantly turns the conversation back to the Gospel and authority of Scripture over against the uninformed opinions of the men with which he is in disagreement. Successful media appearances are certainly not as easy as they may look since they rest upon the ability to make succinct yet powerful arguments and responses in sound bite form.

Note the simplicity and authority with which MacArthur …

  • “A Simple Proof That Roman Catholicism Is Illegitimate”

    http://bnonn.thinkingmatters.org.nz/a-simple-proof-that-roman-catholicism-is-illegitimate

Keep in mind that this is not merely an academic exercise. It is a proof that Roman Catholicism is not officially instituted by God, directed by the Vicar of Christ, or guided by the Holy Spirit. Further, the victims here are real victims who have suffered at the hands of wicked men. Rome is not a good home.…

  • Popularity of Presuppositionalism Continues to Grow

…and it’s virtually impossible to keep up with all of the new material coming out! It’s a good problem to have. Also, it did not used to be this way.

I recommend sites like this one – http://veritasdomain.wordpress.com – to keep track of what is going on.

There are many other sites to watch as well, however I have too difficult a time following them all to list them here right now!…

  • Presuppositionalism on Backpack Radio

Lindsay Brooks of Apologetics.com was on Backpack Radio giving a basic introduction to presuppositional apologetics and ending with an argument from beauty.

Make sure to check out the other shows these guys have done as well. Great stuff!…

  • 30,000 Protestant Denominations

The next time a Roman Catholic gives you an astronomical number of Protestant denominations, ask him or her to name them for you.

RC: Presbyterian, Baptist, Pentecostal, 7th Day, Mormon, JW, Lutheran… and 29,983 others! Simple!

Chris: You missed two out of seven of those; how likely is it that you will get the other 29,983 right?

RC: Quaker, Assembly of God, Church of Nazarene, Evangelical.

Oh come now… whether you call those two groups Christian or not doesn’t make them NOT Christian. Their followers call themselves Christians just as you call yourself a Christian….

However… their addition to the …
