Apologetics to the Glory of God

  • Ben Wallis Poisons the Well and Dodges the Issue…Again

In my last post I directed readers to some comments that have been posted on Ben Wallis’ blog concerning Brian Knapp’s post on the Atheist’s Burden of Proof. As expected, Ben was not very happy with what I had to say in that post. All indications are that he has run out of pseudo-rational justifications for his hatred of God, and so has resorted to attacking my character. Ben writes the following in the comments of the aforementioned post on his blog:

In his characteristic mocking style, Chris Bolt has published another strange post on his blog here, which

  • Ben the Agnostic…uh…Atheist…uh…Whatever Means I Don't Have Anything to Prove!

There is a somewhat humorous exchange between Ben and Paul here. I have posted it below. As you can see, Ben has resorted to just sticking his head in the sand with respect to the problem. Ben is aware of the difficulties with defending an atheist position and I think uncomfortable that his agnosticism is likewise untenable. Note again two of his statements from my debate with him and tell me if he has a clue what his position even is.

“I’m an agnostic, in particular, of the negative atheist variety, by which I mean that I
    neither believe …

  • Should Presuppositionalists Be Taken Seriously?

While digging through ancient discussions on the Internet concerning presuppositional apologetics I came across what is posted below. It is written by an “ex-Van Tilian” who is a friend of mine, and though I do not endorse what is said in the post (at least not all of it) it may be of some interest, provide a critical look at this method from another perspective, or provide fodder for future posts. Enjoy.

Allow me to offer a theistic perspective on this issue (of whether presuppositionalists should be taken seriously).

I believe that if they really want to be “taken seriously”

  • (Sort of) A Debate Announcement

Some of the readers may not know about a “counter apologetics” podcast called “Truly Free” or “Goodness Over God” by Ben Wallis and Michael Long. It is available at http://goodnessovergod.blogspot.com

Readers are familiar with Ben Wallis already (or if you are not, then Search for his name on our site), but probably not Michael Long. Michael is another well-spoken unbeliever and holds an MA in Philosophy. Some clips of Michael from the podcast are included below. Make sure to listen to them in their entirety, or else you will miss an important announcement at the end. You may also be …

  • Sola Scriptura, Van Til, and a Reformed Apologetic

As the Reformed Baptist pastor, apologist, and author  Dr. James White says so well, “the people most enslaved by their traditions are those who believe they don’t have any.”

This is simply to say that  we come to the text of Scripture, along with everything else,  with presuppositions about how we should interpret it. We don’t read the Scripture in a vacuum, or in some neutral fashion, because according to Scripture, it’s impossible, as we will see in a quote from Van Til.

So why is the Reformed tradition superior? Well, it certainly isn’t because of the men who subscribe …

  • Miley Cyrus On LGBT

We can all feel enlightened now that Miley Cyrus has expressed her approval of “gay marriage” through her new tattoo and corresponding commentary. Alas I was troubled that I might not know what to think about homosexual marriage, but Miley came through for me and tattooed an “=” sign on her finger explaining, “ALL LOVE is equal.” This likewise is great news, as I expect a rather large check to be coming my way as a result of it. After all, if all love is equal, and Miley loves some people enough for them to reap the benefits of …

  • All Hail Cosmic Broccoli!

Let’s talk about ignorance. The sort that makes you drop your jaw and stare. I really couldn’t care less about the opening line; it’s the things that he says are “not in the Bible” that are amazingly bad. If what he says weren’t reposted so often by atheists, it might even be hilarious; akin to Silverman’s infamous “Bear Theism” performance he gave during the closing statement of his debate with James White in August of last year.

The next time believers tell you that ‘separation of church and state’ does not appear in our founding document, tell them to stop
