Peripatetic 27 – Rebuttal to Diane Bass Preaching a Pro-Homosexual Sermon in a Mississippi Southern Baptist Church
Diane Bass is the mother of Lance Bass, formerly of N’Sync – a native of Mississippi, where I call home. As far as I can tell, she preached the message linked to on The Huffington Post (and by a multitude of “gay rights” organizations shortly thereafter) at Northside Baptist Church, in Clinton, MS. My attestation for this claim can be found here.…

Peripatetic 26 – Emotions not Arguments – the Homosexual Advocacy Narrative
We review an excellent example of the homosexual advocacy narrative du jour – a post for HuffPo by Micah J. Murray. Notice the crucial word that is missing from his material. Repentance. Notice also the lack of clarity and precision found throughout, and the intense focus on emotions.…

Peripatetic 25 – Ignorant Objections, Bigotry and Duck Dynasty
Argument by redefinition in lieu of meaningful, logical argumentation is specious. It’s one thing to address presuppositions, it’s another thing to smuggle them in. Pravda is nothing new. The relentless, remorseless cultural pressure will beat you down unless you take the time to study the issue. It’s not enough to “Stan with Phil.” Marriage is a picture of Christ an the Church. It’s not a neutral issue by any stretch. I’m a little late on this – but it was recorded in a timely fashion……

The Apostle of Doubt vs. Calvin
Why I Lack Certainty about Christianity – C. Michael Patton:
…Some people say that they have no doubt at all, and they never have. I have difficulty believing assertions such as this, though I suppose they might be true for a very small number of individuals. However, at this point, I think it would be valuable for us to distinguish between “certainty” and “certitude” (Daniel Taylor introduced me to this concept, but I don’t know if the distinctions he made are embedded in the specific definitions of the terms). “Certainty” is the more objective type of conviction. It is the

On Sycophants
It often puzzles me when I see an accusation of sycophancy from unbelievers. It usually goes something like this; I have people who will tell me when I’m wrong, and you have all these people who don’t tell you when you’re wrong. That’s an interesting accusation, but often quite far from the truth. You see, and here I’m going to tell stories a little, even the contributors to CH have internal disagreements at times. Chris, BK and I have had many disagreements about a great number of things. We are a rather varied group, after all.
When I first started …

Mr. White, Mr. Grey and Mr. Black VIII
It’s been quite a while since there’s been a post in this series, hasn’t it? I apologize for the delay! This post will continue the discussion we left off in the last post, and pick up on the same page.
…Of course, what Mr. Black is doing appears very reasonable to himself. “Surely,” he says, if questioned at all on the subject, “a rational man must have a systematic coherence in his experience. Therefore he cannot accept as true anything that is not in accord with the law of noncontradiction. So long as you leave your God in the realm

Some Questions for Matt Oxley
Matt Oxley describes himself as a “former Christian helping others work through the battle of a lost faith.” One aspect of his mission is “to promote intelligent discussion.” So he won’t mind my probing a bit concerning his claim, “I’m a former Christian.”
Recall Scripture states, “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us.” (1 John 2.19) Recently a professing Christian cited this verse for Matt. The implication …
