  • Paul Manata Reviews Michael Sudduth’s "The Reformed Objection to Natural Theology"

Paul Manata has written another one of his excellent reviews. Though I have already read the book, I have been hoping that he would review Michael Sudduth’s The Reformed Objection to Natural Theology and Manata has not disappointed. The book is rather expensive and has much to say that many of those who object to Natural Theology are not going to want to hear. Thus I do not look forward to many people reading the work even though they should. In light of this the review is especially helpful. You may find it here.

  • Women and Apologetics

Just ran across this thought provoking piece from my friend over at Rambling Rosemarie.

  • Why Presuppositional?

The following transcript is an excerpt from “Van Tillian Apologetics, I” by Greg Bahnsen. It can be found for free on iTunes U. The entire series is an excellent resource for those who wish to better understand Presuppositional apologetics as a method.

This particular segment speaks to the reason why the Christian apologist must necessarily reason in a Presuppositional manner:

The apologist must presuppose the truth of God’s word from start to finish in his apologetic witness … When we talk about presupposing or if we talk about a presupposition, what we’re referring to is an elementary assumption in

  • Presuppositional Apologetics In Debate

    Nick Norelli recently wrote:

“I think the thing is that plenty of presuppositionalists debate (look at James White who debates like every other day) and I’m sure they employ their method, but I think it lends itself to certain subjects better than others.”

As Nick mentioned in his response to someone concerning the apparent absence of presuppositional apologetics in the realm of debate, James R. White of Alpha and Omega Ministries is a presuppositionalist and can hardly be charged with not debating. Doug Wilson, who recently engaged Christopher Hitchens in a series of books, formal debates, and discussions (see …

  • That Ol' Time Atheist Religion

Atheist fundamentalism is a sad phenomenon. Examples of it are provided below from comments made on this post.

    Agreus

“Yes it’s a poor argument. The argument is deductively valid, as is the following:

If large green peas, then Jolly Green Giant. Large green peas. Jolly Green Giant.

Obviously, this isn’t a good argument for the existence of the Jolly Green Giant. Yet Chris, who supposedly is a huge proponent of TAG, seems to think these types of arguments are pretty convincing arguments for the existence of God.”

Agreus is referring to TAG here and is asserting that it is …

  • Glenn Beck – Mormon Historian?

I was listening to Glenn Beck’s show yesterday morning, and heard this discussion:

(Note: This may be a first, me linking to Media Matters – but they have the relevant clip – for some reason, it won’t let me post the video directly. If you’d prefer not to visit, my blog has it embedded.)

    Here’s a transcript:
22:40: Glenn: “…the Dead Sea Scrolls, you know what they are? Stu, do you know what the Dead Sea Scrolls are?
Stu: Well, of course I do…
Glenn: Now, c’mon, most people don’t.
Stu: Well, I heard of them, I don’t really …

  • “Cruel Logic”

  • Practical Atheism

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
    James 1:22 (ESV)

Take the rest of the day to reflect on this verse including its apologetic import. You probably really need to.…

  • Alvin Plantinga Retirement Celebration

Read a little about Alvin Plantinga and the upcoming Alvin Plantinga Retirement Celebration. Registration deadline for the event is May 14!

There are many good and bad things about Plantinga’s work worth mentioning in the future but I thought his retirement at least worth mentioning for now.…

  • Bored With Atheism

I have noted this before. Are there any serious Atheist philosophers left who put some effort toward defending their position?
